I was going to write something super deep and thought-provoking, but these two poems say it better than I ever could. I particularly love the last line of the second poem, "May you be true love." Not "find" or "know" but "be." Love that. Love. That.
I Am The New Year
Author Unknown
Life, I am the new year.
I am an unspoiled page in your book of time.
I am your next chance at the art of living.
I am your opportunity to practice
what you have learned about life
during the last twelve months.
All that you sought
and didn't find is hidden in me,
waiting for you to search it out
with more determination.
All the good that you tried for
and didn't achieve
is mine to grant
when you have fewer conflicting desires.
All that you dreamed but didn't dare to do,
all that you hoped but did not will,
all the faith that you claimed but did not have -
these slumber lightly,
waiting to be awakened
by the touch of a strong purpose.
I am your opportunity
to renew your allegiance to Him who said,
'behold, I make all things new.'
I am the new year.
May peace fill all the empty spaces around you
And in you, may contentment answer all your wishes.
May comfort be yours, warm and soft like a sigh.
And may the coming year show you that every day
is really a first day, a new year.
Let abundance be your constant companion,
so that you have much to share.
May mirth be near you always,
like a lamp shining brightly
on the many paths you travel.
May you be true love.

Thank you for sharing this. Love that each day is a new year. Love the reminder that fresh beginnings are always possible. And I agree...Love "be love". What else is there to say?
Great New Year post. Happy New Year.
Love that. Thank you.
But I can't see any pictures here.
So perfect. Beautiful. It is about love. Be love. Just perfect.

Happy New Year, dear friend. May 2008 be peace, wisdom, and joy.
I love both poems! They give me hope for the new year (something I need. A lot!).
