BIG DAY FOR ME
See this pile of unmatched socks? The pile of hopefuls? The pile of singles that have long lost their mates, but for whom I still hold out hope of finding?
Getting tossed.
Today is the day I free them of their need to be matched, and let them go to sock heaven where they can live out the rest of their soul's journey without my forcing their need to couple.
When I was a little girl my favorite book included a double page spread of unmatched mittens, and my mom and I would sit there for what felt like hours, and match them all up. She would point to one, I'd point to the match, then it would be my turn. I still have that book, it sits on Rojo's bookshelf now. Neither he nor Woohoo have been charmed and hypnotized by that game like I was. Perhaps they don't have the same innate need to "tidy" as I do.
You see? I like things neat and clean, no loose ends, no "we'll sees," no pots without their lids, no singleton socks. Life, as it turns out, doesn't work that way, have you noticed that, too?
Today? Socks.
Tomorrow? The sky's the limit.

Life is just messy. The dryer eats sock. (Never socks. Just sock.) Ends refuse to be tied. Stuff happens.
We toss the oddsies, let go of loose ends, let the stuff stream past us.
It's the only real choice if we want to remain sane.
Toss those socks, girl. Then go enjoy the ripples created by affirming STM.
If I had a tenth of your organizational skills I'd be happy.
Free, free, set them free...
I have a HUGE basket of singlets too, but I did get rid of the baby socks finally, that were too small for even the dog. As soon as I toss them, the mates will all show up, probably together. In a conga line.
I think I have the mates over here...
Do it, sister! Drama's on a MAJUH tossing spree.
It feels good.
Damned good.
Love that you're tossing them! Of course, it is when I finally do toss my 'onesies' that I discover the cache of their mates behind the dresser or on stuffed animals in the girls' rooms...
Love you!
I think all of these ripples are about to become a tsunami of joy and power and miracles. You go!!!
Bye bye socks. I use them for dusting once, and then toss. Because I have to use everything. It gives them a feeling of purpose for their lives, and they can RIP. lol
;)
$20 bucks says this is how she got her start ..

So funny. I have a bag of those on the dryer that I named...SWOP (Sox With Out Partners) In the most hectic of weeks when laundry falls behind, I would find my boys making mismatched pairs out of SWOP. It is time....you are an inspiration. I'm going SWOP-free!
