Anyone else get freaked out by a challenge yesterday, and spend the whole day actively avoiding beginning it?

Anyone else dream of pot holders last night? (You know the ones - the ones you made on a cheap loom when you were a kid, with those stretchy thingies.)

Anyone else decide yesterday their life wasn't worth living until they took everything off the laundry room floor, and scrubbed it within an inch of its life?

Anyone else eat nachos and drink beer for dinner? Again?

Anyone else get asked to time your son to see how fast he could run upstairs, pee, flush, wash his hands, and come back downstairs to tell you? (1:33 - mighty impressive.)

Anyone else take a quick look in the mirror before going to the grocery store, not like what they see, and think to themselves, That's okay - I'm not going to see anyone I know, anyway, and then proceed to run into everyone you've ever met in your 45 years on this planet?

Just checking.

Somethings yes, others no.

I had to do the unavoidable yesterday, despite the fact that it was an insurmountable challenge.

My boys cure can pee that fast, but, of course, they don't stop to lift the seat or pause to wash hands (and if hand-washing without supervision is suggested, the water bill will skyrocket as Foster spends however long it takes someone to figure out what he is doing while he delightedly flicks his fingers under the running water).

And, while yesterday was not the day, I will admit that if on ANY occasion I slip on the personal appearance (of, god forbid, skip a shower) I am sure to run into not only people I know, but the ones who will notice and JUDGE.

Hope you have a much better day today.

You crack me up. I did kind of have one of "those days" yesterday - just different details :-)

My day was similar, but to avoid what needed to be done, I watched all the programs I had saved on DVR. AAAAGH!

Well, I did have nachos for dinner. I freely admit it.

But,

I would not be caught dead scrubbing the laundry room floor. That's where we differ.

No nachos, no beer here. And I can't see the laundry room floor in most places, so I sure haven't scrubbed it lately.

But I'm totally with you on the running into everyone you know if you go out without fixing and fussing. Every. Damn. Time.

Don't ya know the worse you look, the more people you see??

On the potholder dream, hmmm, are you feeling a bit old and stretched out? ;)

About that laundry floor...I think there are now meds available that can help with that. LOL

A thing called murphy's law is always in effect in the lives of the parents with special needs.

I hate hearing, "Kathy? How ARE you..." when I look like something the cat drug in and spit out twice.

OMG, I laughed at the last paragraph. I can't tell you how many times that's happened when I just run in for one or two things. It must be some kind of karma in the air. But when you need that loaf of bread ...

You know, that's the nice thing about moving to a new city. You can run around looking like a hag, and you're pretty sure not to run into anyone you know.

Of course the first time anyone recognizes me, we have to move.

Five states in eight years, baby.

Sweet Carrie,
Remember that multi-tasking is a moral weakness. Slow down, breathe, breathe even deeper and again. Be mindful of the shitty day. Say "Hello, shitty day, how are you?" "Nice of you to drop by, now be on your way." Slow down, way down and just be.
And most importantly, never, ever scrub your laundry room floor. That is close to the top of things never to do.
With Love. Always lots of love.

OMG I have not thought about those potholder thingies made on the toy looms in soooo many years!! Thanks for the memory!! :)

I want to know the challenge. As you well know, I'm having more than what I consider my fair share of them. PS: I also JUST had nachos thirty seconds ago.

I have one of those looms and still make those potholders from time to time. It's so much fun!

It sounds like you're in an incubation space right now. I love knowing how you occupy it. I love you.

How did you know? I've been actively avoiding something I know is going to fall on my shoulders...Why can't I just accept it? Maybe if I just make some potholders and have nachos and beer for supper it will just go away!
