TWO KINDS OF PEOPLE

There are two kinds of people, those that upon finding a large crack down the center of one of her favorite coffee mugs, heartlessly tosses it in the garbage, deeming it "worthless," and those that say, "Hey! That's not garbage, it's just got character now. It can be fixed. Don't give up on that mug."

Thank God I'm married to the latter.

We are all cracked vessels (I had to erase "we all have cracks...just didn't sound right), even the ones who throw away anything with an imperfection. :)

Happy week to ya!

If it's your absolute favorite, turn it into something new, a pen holder, or storage for quick change. Give it a new purpose, then you have a reason to go out and buy a fancy Christmas mug!! :)

there is a crack in everything, that's where the light gets in.*

Or where the coffee gets out.

Well, despite Angie making me laugh like crazy, I think this is a wonderful tribute to human nature. He sounds like a keeper, Carrie. :)

More valuable to have (good) character than none.

Hemingway said something like, "Everyone suffers, but some become strong at the broken places."

I don't know about leaking though...

I just stumbled upon your blog by accident... I was doing a google search for ladybug pics and I clicked on one that lead me here - to your post about swallowing a ladybug. Having a quick browse of your blog, I think I clicked on your bug for a reason. I was looking for a ladybug to post on my sisters blog page (tuesdayshope.blogspot.com)You see, she just lost her baby. I read that you wrote a memoir about keeping it together while falling apart and I was wondering if there is somewhere I can read it??
I dont know why I chose your bug and ended up here... but I feel that there must be a reason for it?? do you believe in that sort of thing???

fi fi d,

Let's "talk" off line - can you send me your e-mail address? Mine is: fullycaffeinated@comcast.net

But to answer your question, not only do I believe in those things, it's the main theme of my life: no accidents.

love.
Carrie

He'd be a fool to give up on you and you're not cracked.

Hmmm. If we're talking coffee mugs, I'm the former. If we're talking people, I'm DEFINITELY the latter!

Was following blogroll links this morning and finding yours was like hitting a jackpot!

I love memoirs - reading and writing them. (I don't have a book yet, just pieces.)

You wrote about the cracked cup - and that reminded me of Leonard Cohen's Anthem:
"Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack, in everything
Thats how the light gets in."

I enjoyed your blog entry on Forgiveness and like the other commenter, hope to read your book someday.

Will come back to your blog for more. :-)
