NO STONE UNTURNED

If life imitates art, my life right now is an abstract. Nothing is where it "should" be, and yet, there is some undeniable sense of universal order at play.

As is the Link tradition, we got our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving. Well, one thing led to another. We moved the yellow chairs by the front window in the living room to make room for the tree, then it just sort of snowballed from there. Next thing I knew we'd gone completely crazy and moved the dining room table into the dining room. The "family room" furniture joined the living room furniture. (It's going to take me a few more days to get good with that juxtaposition.) The prayer room has some hodgepodge of furniture moved into a circle and we'll see how that all plays out. Not sure about the sewing machine/table in there.

Woohoo ended up with a leftover table in her room just 'cause there was no where else for it to go. Now there's a bookcase in our bedroom, and my groaning nightstand is thankful for the help.

In the last few years both STM and I have undergone some big personal transformations. Now our home has, too.

Maybe art does imitate life?

(The Beavs didn't get it done yesterday. It's not funny yet.)

As a constant furniture re-arranger, I can assure you that life does imitate art! It is amazing to me how an environment changes when we change the things in it and the influence it has on our psyches since we are not separate from the environment!

Moving a couch now and then is good for the soul. 'all I'm sayin.

Artists often complete many sketches studying shape and form before beginning a painting. These can also be your sketches.

Uh, I went nuts and painted the kitchen. By myself.

And it's wrong.

I have to take 2 sick days to undo it now.

Hang in there!

Life's stranger than fiction sometimes, huh? I tend to leave the furniture as is, or maybe just too lazy to change it. I bet yours looks great! (Got your sweet note. Thanks.)

Pardon me, but did you say you have a sewing machine?

Really?

Can I send you some pants to hem?

Michelle,

To tell you the honest to God's, I couldn't tell you if there's an actual sewing machine or not in that sewing machine table! I better look! Could just be a dead body or something!

Non-attachment, including to any particular arrangement for furniture, is a fine thing.

As for that sewing machine. . .if it housed a dead body, you'd smell it. DO NOT FEAR the sewing machine. It can be your friend.

The day after T-day, while still immersed in a trypophan stupor, I was waking Sophie by gently stroking her hair. Without lifting her eyelids, she croaked, "Do you figure Carrie got her tree yet?" I howled.

The good thing about furniture is that it can be moved back or another way altogether.

I find rearranging furniture and changing paint colors necessary therapy! I often tell my husband its the change the rooms or the husband...he usually agrees to help move the furniture.
