GUESS THE YEAR
This week's writing assignment is to write a piece from a particular year, without telling the year. We are to use cultural references, songs, TV shows, events, etc.
Here's what I've got so far from my year:
* The space shuttle Challenger exploded 73 seconds after take off
* Pam Ewing dreamed the whole prior season
* Whitney Houston sang, "How Will I Know?"
* "Oprah" goes national
* Dionne and Friends sang, "That's What Friends Are For."
* Michael Jordan's posters, "Freeze Frame" and "Air Jordan" are flying off the shelves across the county

1985?
i'm guessing that the answer is not 'jess wilson's junior year in high school' but um, well.
I can't wait to read this piece! I lived that year, baby!
I knew as soon as I saw the photo. (That, and Nigel looking over my shoulder, rattling off the date that it happened.)
I knew when I saw the photo - 1986.
198-something I have totally blocked out with the exception of "How will I know" & "That's what friends are four." Thanks for putting those fine tunes in my brain... Funny how music is so deeply ingrained in memory.
My brain is a sink hole when it comes to time and dates. However, there is no question that the references are potent reminders a time I remember...even if I can't remember the year.
I can hardly wait to see what you do with this information.
1986. I am confident.
Also I can tell you month of the Challenger explosion: January. (Do I get extra credit?)
1985.
