TECHNO FEVER

STM and I have been toying with getting DVR for MONTHS but always stop short because neither of us had the wherewithal to investigate the cost, installation, etc., etc. etc. To say our energies are stretched, is to minimize it. We knew that actually having DVR would make our lives nicer, but getting DVR might push us over the edge.

So.

I e-mailed the one friend I knew with DVR then put on my Facebook status that I knew zero about DVRs and needed to be told, step-by-step, what to do and how to do it.

And I got answers in about 2 minutes! REALLY helpful answers! Doing my work for me kind of answers! Taking all the guess work out of it kind of answers. The best kind of good type answers!

And now we have DVR.

But nothing programmed.

So tell me, what are y'all watching that I need to be watching and am not? Of course Survivor: Villians vs. Heroes is a given, as is "Desperate Housewives," but that's all I know.

Tell me. Let's fill this puppy with good bad TV!

Since you asked, Project Runway, Thursdays, Lifetime. And Top Chef on Bravo when it is in season. (It's not right now.)

As an "armchair traveler/foodie" I have seen and enjoyed every episode of Anthony Bourdain's "No Reservations" on the Travel channel. I also tape Molto Mario (Bataldi) eps 5 at a time which rerun over on FLN (Fine Living Network-where they put all the "old" chefs out to pasture.) He offers a jam-packed Italian history, micro-culture and food lesson all in one.

People swear by Mad Men, but after taping 13 eps, the sheer time commitment to get current intimidated me, so I deleted them. Glee is another cult hit which I have yet to watch, but my guilty pleasure-mainly for the group cast-is Brothers and Sisters on ABC.

I am probably the ONLY person in the world who does not watch American Idol or Dancing with the Stars (she says while ducking).

Have fun with it. The best part for me is being able to fwd thru the commercials or pause and replay.

Oh, we Netflix all the good TV shows and watch them on our terms. Do you like medical dramas? We're watching House these nights. Also enjoyed Greys Anatomy and Private Practice after that. 24 and Criminal Minds were our favorite intense shows. On the lighter side, we like Big Love and The Office. Have fun!

I love how you asked for help. I wonder if you'll find the help here as helpful. :-)

I'm hooked on Amazing Race, NCIS, Saving Grace (my favorite - not back til spring), and So You Think You Can Dance (also on hiatus right now).

Happy escaping!
