FOOD FOR THOUGHT

In the Mary book I was telling you about, there is a section on challenges. The message is to stop resisting them, do not become emotionally involved with them, and in fact, enjoy them - they are learning experiences - LEARN.

I'm learning. More growth opportunities. Or, as someone I know calls them, AFGOs, another you-know-what growth opportunities.

To help with the AFGOs there is an exercise in which you make three lists, or answer three simple questions: 1) Who am I? 2) What is my gift I give to the planet? 3) What is my purpose in being here this lifetime?

Three little questions, so easy, right? I find myself avoiding these like the you-know-what plague.

Yesterday Rojo announced he'd like for Woohoo to babysit Flicka, as he really could use some personal time. "I just need an hour with no one needing me. I just need an hour all to myself. I just need to be ALONE." Where, oh where, has he heard those words before? And why is it easier for me to tell you who he is, what his gift to the planet is, and what his purpose is for being here in this lifetime?

Could it be that that is the answer? To share those answers?

It could be that you-know-what simple.

I am reading a great book right now, you would like it. Transforming Fate into Destiny. Looks at these questions...

Your words about R's words hit me. I have heard both my kids say the same things-- and I know where they have heard it. *sigh* (hint:not from you).

;)

Those little questions are the hardest questions in the world. Simple? NO!

Rojo asking for time with no one needing him tickles my funny bone. What great lessons you've taught him. Truly.

I don't know what I love best about this. Rojo asking for personal time - this boy who needs constant companionship. The "F" applied to growth opportunities. Or the aha light bulb I see Mary holding over your head. Simple, but never easy. Love.

Love this. I avoid those questions myself. They are not easy!

The alone time? So funny. Roc recently repeated a whole mantra I must have spewed out months ago about just needing some space. I don't remember saying it, but I must have, because he was using my "voice" while talking.

When you figure out how to stop avoiding those questions and find the answers, set up a workshop and I'll be your first customer. The thought of approaching such a task strikes fear into my heart like no other!

Love you guys.
