GO ALONG TO GET ALONG
At this moment I am asking myself, when is it best to just go along to get along, and when must remain in the "fight" for what one so strongly believes?
I am thinking the answer is "it depends". Today I choose to be the Go Along Girl. I have hurt people. I have caused pain to those I love the most. That is not in alignment with the three tenents of love, peace and compassion on which I try to base my life. Perhaps greater love, peace and compassion will be the result, but for today I put down my sword. Today I choose peace at any price. Today I keep my eye on the smaller picture, and let the bigger picture grow out of focus. Today I want an immediate settling of the storm I've stirred.
Perhaps we will all see more clearly once the dust settles?
Perhaps we won't?
Perhaps it doesn't matter?
Perhaps being "right" is less important than being happy?

Wow, amazing post, amazing strength, amazing honesty. I for one, think you do see all too clearly, and must wait until others do. You are the most amazing of all.

It isn't easy to be a peacemaker. Your post shows such courage, such largeness of heart. I salute you.

But as you make peace, Carrie, remember that one never stirs up a storm alone. There is the act-er, there is the receive-er, and there are the intentions and perceptions of each.

As you have said to me, please treat yourself with the same kindness and tenderness you extend to others.

A piece of daddy wisdom that my father shared with me when I went home to discuss my life with him.

"Sometimes, you just need to go around it."

I love the way you are just going around this one.

Perhaps things will become more clear when you seen from another angle.

Whoa! Apparently your site has become the new billboard for vitriolic hatred aimed at others? Talk about guilt by association.

By the way, I'm actually menopausal, not "pre-menopausal" and I still love your writing, so there.

I agree with your decision to fight some battles and conserve your energy while "going around" others. It's a difficult thing to do and takes a lot of practice, but I think it's saving my sanity and allowing me more energy for the other more positive things in my life. Keep going, girl!
